he told them to switch camels because it was the persons camel who would win the prize, therefor, if one of the brothers hopped on the other brothers camel, and went first, his camel would HAVE to be last.
 
He informed them that if they ride across the line together they would both essentially be first and last. Meaning that they will split the fortune.

Or both of you ride the same camel and end the riderless camel forward.

Or swap camels

Or the Americans are going to seize your fathers holdings until an investigation is run to prove that he is not funding terrorism. Probably not that one, but maybe the first.
