I WAS A RED CROSS VOLUNTEER at Philadelphia International Airport welcoming returning service personnel home from the Gulf War. Waiting for a plane to arrive, I overheard another volunteer chatting with a seven-year-old girl. "I bet you'll be glad to see your daddy again," the woman said.
"No," she replied, "Daddy and I are waiting for Mommy to come home!"
