Aug. 6 (Bloomberg) -- Tiger Woods shot his fourth consecutive 6-under-par 66 for a three-stroke win at the Buick Open and his 50th career victory on the U.S. PGA Tour.
Woods finished with a score of 24-under 264 at Warwick Hills Golf and Country Club in Grand Blanc, Michigan. Jim Furyk was second at 21-under, with Joe Durant one shot further back.
The 30-year-old Woods is the youngest player to reach the 50-win mark in PGA Tour history. Jack Nicklaus was the previous youngest at 33 years of age.
``It's pretty cool, to get to 50. You never in your wildest dreams ever think it would happen,'' Woods, who received $864,000 to push his season winnings total to over $5.1 million, said in an interview with CBS Sports. ``I've been blessed and have had a lot of good things go my way.''
Woods had seven birdies, including at the final hole, and one bogey in winning the tournament for the second time. It was his fourth victory of the season and his second in successive starts, after capturing the British Open two weeks ago.
Furyk, the 2003 tournament winner, had eight birdies in tying Tom Pernice Jr. for the day's low round of 64. Durant had six birdies and a bogey in posting his best finish this season.
Lucas Glover and Robert Allenby entered today's round two shots behind Woods in a tie for second. Both shot even-par 72 to drop into a tie for 15th place at 16-under.
Two-time defending champion Vijay Singh finished seven shots behind Woods in a tie for 11th place. Singh, who was looking for his fourth win at the tournament, shot 70 today.
