BAGHDAD, Oct 23, 2006 (AFP) - Two Iraqi civilians and a policeman were
killed in a bomb attack in the centre of Baghdad on Monday as the country
began marking the Eid al-Fitr feast for the end of Ramadan, the interior
ministry said.

The bomb exploded in the path of a police patrol near the Sunni mosque
Abdel Kader al-Jeilani mosque. A total of 13 people were wounded, eight of
them policemen.

Iraq's fledgling security forces are frequently the target of attack by
insurgents and Monday's bombing followed the murder of 17 police trainees
in an ambush Sunday.
