BAGHDAD - Insurgents set off three car bombs in Baghdad on Saturday, killing
three people and wounding dozens more, security officials said.

Two Iraqi soldiers were killed and two policemen wounded when a
booby-trapped car, with a body inside, was blown up as security forces
arrived to remove the body, a security official said.

"People who saw the corpse in the car called security forces to take custody
of the body and when these forces arrived, the car exploded," the official
told AFP.

"Insurgents had put explosives in the car along with the body," he added.

In another attack, one civilian was killed and another 22 wounded when a
suicide bomber blew up a vehicle as a joint US-Iraqi convoy passed near a
police station in Baghdad's restive southern district of Al-Dura.

Another roadside bomb near central Baghdad's Al-Shaab stadium wounded two
policemen.

Insurgents have managed to carry out repeated attacks in Baghdad despite a
security crackdown in the capital since mid-June.

The authorities are now planning to dig trenches around the capital and seal
off dozens of minor roads in a bid to thwart the movement of insurgents.
