The Supreme Court decided not to consider the case of a detainee in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, who is fighting plans to return him to Algeria. The U.S. military has classified Ahmed Belbacha as an "enemy combatant." Two lower federal courts have rejected Belbacha's bid to block his transfer. He was an accountant who went to Pakistan to help the Taliban, according to the U.S. military. He was arrested there in 2002.
The detainee's case is still alive in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, which will hear arguments on Dec. 6.
