What's the deal with these clowns? I think they showed the American public just what kind of thugs are running that place. I don't know if many Americans realize that we've sent more than a billion dollars over there already to help end the genocide. Geez, I wonder where that ended up? :roll: We know it fattened up the bank accounts of these thugs. Maybe this latest incident will serve to wake the American public up to what's going on over there.
What they need is an African security/peace keeping force to stop the genocide in Dafur. It is an African problem. I think the U.S. could and should provide funding but that the people in the ground should be African.

so you are prepared to stand by and watch people die when they need not.
they are ruled by corrupt reigemes who do not care for the people and will not and cannot do much, if anything to help them.
greed, international debt and sheer overwhelming circumstances have made it near impossible for them to fix the situation themself.
they need other countries help. yes, not sending money is an option, but what will that prove? if you make an effort to remove the reigeme or to do something about the root of the problem, then you will do something.

sending aide and such is good, it solves the hunger temporarily, but it is only a quick fix, ya gotta look deeper and find out whats gotten them into this situation, they didn't ask to be massively indebt and in poverty
 
Locke, did you read my post? I said that I think this is an African problem and any troops on the ground should be African. I think America could foot the bill.
Do you think that all African nations are too corrupt or otherwise incapable of being effective on the ground? I really don't think that's what you believe but I'll let you tell me.
What would or could your country do to help the situation?
This is not a debate about whether something needs to be done. It is more of a discussion directed toward Americans and their lack of awareness of the problem there.
No America doesn't have a habit of standing by does it? I'm sorry but, I don't see what your problem is. Did you misunderstand what I posted or have I misunderstood yours?
 
Last time the US tried to do something to help end a genocide and liberate a people from their oppressive ruler France and Germany blackballed us. Now why should we be enthuastic about trying to do something like that again?

I also feel that Africa should try to solve itself. I think that Egypt and South Africa ought to be able to do something. From what I have seen South Africa has some modern equipment and Egypt has a rather sizable military, correct? I don't see why America needs to do something alone that is the job of the UN as a whole.
