A lack of jobs in rural areas is pushing more young people to enlist in the military compared with young people in urban areas, according to a new study conducted by the University of New Hampshire's Carsey Institute. The trend means a greater proportion of those killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are from rural areas. The Carsey Institute report was released Friday to coincide with Veterans Day.
