Topic: Soxmis

In all my time in Germany I never saw a Soxmis car. During Exercise Lionheart the Squadron was on the move, the night before the move, myself and other section commanders were awake all night finalising routes, route cards and orders of march with Oscar Charlie.

Finally just before dawn all was ready, I woke my section for breakfast and distributed the route cards with timings. When all ready I climbed into the passenger seat of the lead truck and led my section onto the route. I was so tired that I simply fell asleep. When I woke up a couple of hours later my driver said that a Soxmis car had overtaken my section, I asked him why the hell he didn't wake me up, "Dunno" he replied, I asked him what the Soxmis number was, "Dunno" he replied, I asked him what make of car it was, what was its colour, "Dunno" he replied,. I felt like hitting him with a starting handle.

It was also staffed by drivers from the Queens Regiment, the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force.

If they only wanted tanks counted the pongo's were sent, more technical equipment that needed checking the RAF or RN were sent
