The Olympic men's all-round results are being re-examined by the governing body of gymnastics after the South Koreans launched a protest over the scores of silver and bronze medalists Kim Dae-eun and Yang Tae-young.

"It has been decided that the FIG will proceed to the immediate analysis of the men's all-round competition," World Gymnastics Federation President Bruno Grandi said in a statement Friday.

"In the case that judging errors have occurred, appropriate steps will be made immediately."

Paul Hamm became the first American man to win the individual crown Wednesday, but the South Koreans believe Kim and Yang, who finished second and third respectively, were not credited with the scores they deserved.

Although the gymnastics federation refused to reveal which scores the South Koreans were protesting against, an unnamed source said it was likely to be for their vaults.

"In case the findings prove any improper scoring by the judges, there will be sanctions against the officials involved," the source said.

"However, it is unlikely to introduce changes in the medal distribution."

A decision is expected Saturday morning.
