Some pics from the new German IdZ units

Thanks for the reply and info Bratwurst. My German isn't quite up to reading the linked page so I'll get it translated :)

I have no doubts that the 40k Intervention force will be of the highest possible standard. If we can ignore certain politics of the past they have a very high and proud standard to live up to. I've always rated the best trained German soldiers as being in the top 3 in the whole world - looks like this will continue. :)

Cheers

If I had to take a guesse Id bet they will be around the Paratrooper skill level which would still be extremely impressive for 40k men. The 101st is working side by side with the Marine commandos in Afghanistan so how could you say that the Commandos and high tier American SF are in the same league?

night vision device, ambient light intensifier (800m!), thermography device - which indeed allows you to have a nightly look through walls in a way...

The 40k will definately not have homogenous standards of training, I agree. As you well know you need specialists for a wide variety of missions. If they'll make up the whole body of German intervention troops, you're likely to find the same diversity as in any standing army.

The standards are going to be high though, that's for sure. If German troops start dying overseas the political leaders get politically beheaded by the public in an instant. Not like in the USA... Politicians are aware of that fact and will see to the max security standards of soldiers, meaning optimal equipment and training. To apply this philosophy on 40k troops is possible. Even with the minimal funding the Bundeswehr receives.

We'll see anyways... For now the glory is on paper only and until they actually kick some terrorist a$$ or help out under the international flag of peace and economic interest, they're worth nothing.

I was just surprised that Germany is actually doing something in these lines, since, as hinted, they don't like military action at all. And I was impressed by the tech and those lovely, deadly toys. :rambo:

Do you know what equipment the men will be armed with, from the pics there seems to be a wide variety of rifles, will it be the G36 or will HK33/53 etc. be used as well. What pistols are used, machine guns etc.

The standard weapons should be MG 4 machine gun (new development), assault rifle G36 (+40mm launcher), sniper rifle G22, MP7 for close range, P8 side arm.

the whole german infantry is planned to be eqipped with the idz system til 2006 and til 208 the german mech. inf.
so there will be no special training. the units will train as usual.
and the g22 is already in all infantry and mech infantry units.
the ksk is equpped with almols every toy H&K has in its fundus, also fe the p22.
by the way the last pic are german navy divers "kampfschwimmer".

What are your sources for that?

That's correct. They had nothing to do with the IdZ, but I liked the pic anyways ;)

I heared that from the "Gruppe Weiterentwicklung" in Hammelburg (The development group). I had an introduction into the IDZ system during a close quarters training last year.
But I think the time plan is to optimistic. Im sure that it will last longer to equip the whole infantry and mech inf with that system.
BUt i got plenty of pics from the IDZ stuff...
Ill post them this evening

all you need to have some fun in the park.

EDIT: I still like to know why the Germans never should wear berets!?!

Excellent.
It's the same old, same old.
It's not about what guns they got nowadays. It's how you train them.

Not in the hardware forum. Alos, I don't think the Germans have a problem with the training.

Hey Pollux, I rechecked and still couldn't find any reference about the whole infantry being equipped with that gear. I always only found the 40k figure. Are your sources reliable?
