About 200 soldiers currently based in Edinburgh are being sent to Iraq on
Sunday to support UK forces.
The 2nd Battalion The Light Infantry will provide escorts for convoys and
security for UK bases around Basra.
The company were previously deployed to Baghdad, Al Amarah and Basra in
October 2003.
For the past two months they have trained in areas such as climate extremes
and culture differences.
The soldiers, who are currently based at Redford Infantry Barracks in
Edinburgh, will be working as part of the Rear Operations Battle Group.
