Smith & Wesson selling Sigma Pistols for $99 for Xmas

They'd have to give me at least $100.00 to take a Sigma Jamomatic pistol. That has got to be the worst piece o'crap S&W ever came out with.

See thats what I don't get about firearms.

Why would anyone want to spend $100 for a POS? I have no outstanding desire to own a gun, but if I did it wouldn't go out and buy the K-MART red dot special especially with a piece of equipment I might have to rely on to save my life.

Worse of all are these $120-$150 Saturday night specials, some of which are so shoddy they are actually dangerous to the shooter (Bryco Arms).

Being on a budget is one thing, but sheesh...

Most of S&W'S are quality and I'd have little problem relying on any of them. Sigma is another story I owned one and have shot others and would never consider one for a primary weapon.

It would be okay if I didn't have a gun but as Ayoob said.

"It ain't a Sig..Ma."

Damn, you got my hopes up when I saw the topic title. I thought they were actually selling them for $99 with no prerequisite purchase.

S&W's first production of Sigmas were crap... the current production is very well made. Many shooters don't like the Sigma for two reasons.

1. Past Production Problems (Solved since S&W was purchased from the British and made an American owned company again.)
2. Heavy Trigger Pull. Many shooters don't like them.

The current production Sigmas are 100% in my opinion. The trigger pull is a little on the heavy side but that does not bother me. I view the Sigma as a pistol that goes bang every time the trigger is pulled. Not everyone can afford a $2,000 Custom Made Wlison Combat 1911-A1. Some folks can only afford a $250 Sigma.

As I said, the first production models were crap but the current ones are 100% a okay in my book.

And here are some other opinions of them...

A used Ruger GP-100 can be had for about $150 - $200. While a revolver, don't discount a weapon just because it's inexpensive on the billfold. That GP-100 will last forever without a hiccup.

But I agree with all the rest! Might as well invest in penny stocks in that one-in-a-million chance of a winner. Vegas has better odds than some firearms out there (Star, anyone?).

I'll keep my $99 and put it towards some ammo for my Kimber. :)
