Well people I signed up and was sworn in with the Iowa ARNG on Nov 6. I
have a leave date of Jan 17 for Fort Leonardwood Mo. OSUT for around 15
weeks between basic and AIT.

I am with the 832nd ENGR.CO out of Mt.Pleasant Ia.

I was going to go Reserves but it didnt work out. Some things I factored in just made this right for me and Family. Armory is within two miles.

Things are gonna be tight financially for this 36 year old father of 4 for a
while. Starting out as a E-3 will help but I still make more at my civilian job
I work a Fri,Sat,Sun job so I will juggle around vacation hrs,and personal hrs to supplement the diff in Guard pay.

I picked 21 B Combat Engineer as my job with the 6 year enlistment. The
job is not what I wanted but this is not about me! This is much bigger than me. I looked at what they needed opposed to what I thought I
needed.

I would still like to go 25-M,25-B or 21-T later possibly we will see. I will
definetely start taking classes when I am through with BCT-AIT. That is
if I am not deployed right away LOL:smil:

So anyway be praying for my family and I we will need it to get through
this. HOOAHH!

Thanks jaz-do and family

Good luck jaz.

My best advice is to get in good shape beforehand, makes it sooo much easier. And don't get injured.

very true. I have been getting in shape! Right now I can do the requirements for my age. Push ups,sit ups,and run (2.2.2.apft) So I will
continue in those areas. My only concern is my knees!:jump: when I
started running it was my shins, next my left knee and outside of leg,now
my right knee is acting up some. Probably all pretty normal for my age and
not really running since high school. The shins, and left leg have stopped
being a problem. From what I have read it's pretty normal for running.
So I am expecting the right knee pain to be gone soon.

Goodluck to you, keeping a low profile is the easiest way to make it through.
