I think that the suggestion is ludicrous.
There have been almost countless other tragedies of this type. (Columbine, University of Texas, University of Ohio, Newtown Conn. etc., etc., etc) The list goes on and on.
You can't just demolish millions of dollars worth of public facilities because it was the scene of a tragedy, even more so when the country as a whole is not willing to even make an attempt at preventing similar tragedies in the future.

The home of Fred and Rosemary West was demolished in 1996 where rapes, torture and murders of young women were committed. The site has been turned into a landscaped footpath.
