The German Army (Bundeswehr) Rifle is G 36 for normal infantry and the G 36k (k=kurz=short) for Paratroopers (Fallschirmjäger) and for German Special Forces (KSK=Kommando Spezial Kräfte) . Also in use the G 36c (c=commando) for some special operations. The XM8 system is based on the G 36!!!

Technical description.
The XM8 is a derivative of the Heckler-Koch G36 assault rifle, and thus it is almost similar to that rifle in design and functioning.

The Steyr Aug is such a beautiful weapon. Can any tell me how it compares to the m-16 family in range, accuracy, and reliability?

From what I've heard, the AUG is just as good a shootin weapon as the M16 - range and accuracy wise - but I have heard of some Aus troops saying th reliability is crap.
