Secret Military clearance

Hello =)

I am trying to apply for a Job that requires a Military Security Clearance. (the lowest level clearance)
I have bad credit history due to default student loans and medical bills. I have had my wages garnished twice. About one month ago I paid all of my debt in full. I currently have zero debt. Do you think now that my debt has been paid my credit history will affect my chances at getting the clearance? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am going to be completely honest and up front about my debt on my application and if I have an interview.

Generally, as long as you're honest, you should be fine. If you try to hide something, it indicates that you're embarrassed about it and, thus, it's something that could be used to blackmail you in exchange for information. Since you plan to be totally upfront, you should be in good shape.

c/Commander,

Thank you very much for the reply. That is pretty much what I thought and have been told.
