After finishing second four times in the Knoxville Nationals, Donny Schatz finally captured his first Nationals win on Saturday night in the 46th running of the prestigious event at Knoxville Raceway.

Schatz outran a star-studded field to win his first Knoxville National feature. The World of Outlaws Series point leader piloted his Parker Stores No. 15 to the historic win in front of a standing room only crowd.

Schatz picked up $140,000 for the win in the non-sanctioned event.

Joey Saldana, who led laps 1-3 and 5-12, finished second with Thursday night's winner Jason Johnson in third. Johnson was awarded with the Mr. Sprint Car title for amassing the most points through 10 nights of racing in Southern Iowa.

For the second time on the night National Sprint Tour points leader Danny Lasoski charged from the last starting position to finish fourth.

Jason Meyers rounded out the top five.

12-time Nationals winner Steve Kinser came home sixth with Craig Dollansky, Wayne Johnson, Don Droud Jr. and Daryn Pittman completing the first ten finishers.

The field for the main event was set after wild B-Feature, which included a family feud between Lasoski and nephew Brian Brown.

http://www.military-quotes.com/forum/ As Lasoski was making his first move of the night from the back of the pack Brown came down on Lasoski, which sent Lasoski's Roth Motorsports sprint car for a spin. The yellow was displayed and that's where the tension heated up as the two came together again on the caution laps.

Lasoski did not have to go back to the rear for bringing out the caution because the flag was flown to quickly thinking Lasoski was not going to be able to continue running.

After Lasoski made the A-Feature by taking the final transfer spot, the family feud continued off the track as Lasoski's father, George, was furious with him.

Jeff Shepard won the B-Feature to also transfer along with Shane Stewart and Terry McCarl.

Brown finished sixth and failed to make the A-Feature.

When Lasoski made his way to the stage during driver introductions the crowd erupted with boos.

The 22nd-place finisher Tony Bruce Jr. was named the 2006 Knoxville Nationals Rookie of the Year.

The World of Outlaws will now return to action at Black Hills Speedway on August 17, and the National Sprint Tour will race at Junction Motor Speedway on Monday.
