Upgraded version of the F-18 I beleive comes with AESA radar, improved engines, slightly larger wings and a towed decoy system, similar to that on the typhoon.

I don't see anything that claims a short take off in that video. Its been rolling for a long time (most likley) before the point you see on the video.

JSF is for aircraft carriers and such, it makes sense to have vertical takeoff with it since it would use less runway space. The raptor on the other hand is meant for the airforce only and the vtol isn't as important since it will always be taking off from a runway. Sure it makes it more versatile, but it's meant for performance and you can't cram everything in there perfectly i guess. Maybe wih future upgrades. I still think it's an overall kill, but so are hydrogen bombs i suppose.
