This is a story of how alcohol can destroy a man who has everything. The name of Paul Gascoigne, Gazza, may not mean a lot to folk on this forum, but to the untold millions of soccer fans throughout the world he is an absolute legend.

He played glorious soccer at the very top levels and was loved by all the clubs he played for, players and fans. He was arguably the greatest talent of his generation, a blazing star.

He was a Geordie boy, with an outrageous sense of humour that often got him into trouble, but with a football he was complete magic.

He was always full of fun and famously, when he played in Italy for Lazio, the team were leaving Rome by train, and as they went through the first tunnel and emerged, Gascoigne remained seating just as he had been, but now completely in the nude. Immediately they reached the 2nd tunnel, and when the train emerged he was still sat exactly as he had been, but now completely dressed.

He suffered a terrible leg injury which effected his career, but also , lauded throughout so much of the world, he fell foul of alcohol.

So a giant bestriding his world was gradually brought to his knees, echoing the fate of the fabulous legend George Best.

Take a read of his sad situation and see what his family say, his sister pleaded for him to be sectioned, to save his life.

Most of us can handle alcohol, but any who difficulties with it, please take note of the fact that even having all the love, support, and money available, it seems that it can become unbeatable, and brings a victim a person long for death.

Very, very sad indeed, and all soccer fans will feel for him and hope for his survival.
