Sad 10 Days for Florida LEOs

The past week has been a bad one in Florida.

Two Police officers shot and killed and one still in the hospital fighting to stay alive.

Two Broward County Sheriff Deputies were shot four days apart. The first one is fighting for his life. He was shot in the head with a GLOCK 21 .45 ACP pistol. His shooter was brought to justice.

The Second Broward County Sheriff Deputy was shot and killed while making a traffic stop for a stolen license plate. He was ambushed and never had a chance to draw his firearm. His killer(s) are still on the loose. The only information about that shooting is that the subject vehicle is an older four door American made sedan. A Ford Crown Victoria or Chevy Malibu.

And today during the ceremony of the slain Broward County Sheriff Deputy, a Hillsborough County Sheriff Deputy was ambushed and killed while in his patrol car. He was heading home while from working a DUI Check Point and was killed while on the road. His killer was later confronted by fellow police officers and was killed by Tampa SWAT.

This has been a horrible week for law enforcement on Florida. Also sadly another horrible event happened today. One of my fellow officers of my own department lost his two year old son today. His son drowned to death in a lake while being watch by a babysitter. The father was at his other son's side at the hospital. He was getting reconstruction surgery for a cleft lip.

Over 6,000 Florida Law Enforcement Officers payed their respects to Broward County Sheriff Deputy Sgt. Chris Reyka. The escort to the burial was over 40 miles long. We here in Florida pay our respect to our fellow brothers and sisters of law enforcement when we lose one of our members.

In the end, pray and thank your fellow Law Enforcement Officers, Fire Rescue Personnel, and Military Personnel. Because they all do a hard job that could take their lives at any moment.

The Funeral Procession was over 40 miles long.... yes, it's that long when you have over 6,000 police officers and at least 1,000 civilians.

The tribute video shown at the memorial service

The people who form the "thin blue line" along with our Emergency Medical Teams and Firefighters deserve much better treatment from us, the protected. There aren't many people who would lay their lives on the line for others every time they go to work.
