Hi, as I understand it quite a few military orgs teach riot control, like the National Guard in the USA, and I was wondering what sort of training is given. Not just the individual and squad level training, but also what sort of training do the guys in charge get?

Thanks

Just in general, a rough breakdown of the sort of stuff taught, which I am guessing stays much the same as no matter where you are, riot control to me looks like it all uses the same techniques.

Don't know about today but in 1966 while stationed at Ft. Belvoir I received riot training due to the anti-war activities in DC. I also received more in Germany (1968) when MLK was assasinated, they expected trouble (those were troubled times) which did not come.

I was in 6th SFG in pre-mission language school when King got assassinated.
They yanked us out of school and put everybody from the 6th who was avaible into the "6th Riot Bn."
We practiced moving about in triangles with bayonets.
At the last minute they sent 82nd Abn troops to DC and we stood down.
They had some riots on Okinawa and they took in a truck of SF guys from !st SFG who never had riot training.
They attacked the crowd which broke and ran.
Mob mentality is pretty fluid as well as situational.
