Does anyone know wut *guards army, division.. Shock* army, division of hte russian troops during world war II meant?

Basically they were just titles. For example a normal army might be renamed as a guards army if they succeeded in battle.

I want to say they had some sort of high status than other units i wontsay training cause it all sucked back then or equip ment cause it was all the same, so ill say the time in combat, like before you sen the 200th infantry regiment, the 16th Red Gaurds or 19th Shock infantry would go first do to combat performance like stated above.

i think ( from various films and images) that russian troops with ankle boots and no helmets( but with a military side cap) are just regular troop while guards divisions and shock units had better uniform such as helmets and deep boots as well as more ammunition

Guard units in the Soviet union are not always shock troops or diffrent in any way. sometimes units recieved the title guard for a certain operation they took part in or for being considred espcially politically loyal...

lol, a word for 5 milbucks, NICE!

IM amazed at how the russian military could go from almost defeat to absolute victory despite millions dead and 2/3 of industrial area conqueroed... WOW

They had help and the Germans made vital blunders but it was an amazing comeback from the brink of death. No other nation could have done it IMO.

I just watched this Russian movie not a long time ago, and its about how people that were considered against Stalin or some kind of socialist were sent into battalions that were to go first into battle and seal enemy positions. Those people were used to attack most of the fronts. Those were basicly people who didnt obey the rules in regular army, and for people that were in jail (convicts), or people who were captured and ran away from the Nazi's they were considered enemies and were sent into these battalions to what they called " fight for USSR to show that you're not a traitor". It's a really good movie for any of the Russian people that want to see it, its called "SHTRAFBATT".
