Russian Tu-95 trying to enter Canadian airspace

Canadian CF-18 fighters held off two Russian Tu-95 long-range bombers who tried to enter Canadian airspace yesterday, the Canadian Department of National Defence said. Similar incidents were recorded several times every year since 2007. A DND spokesman designated these flights a 'show of force'. The incidents seem to be connected to Russian claims of a 1.2 million km² area in the Arctic, including the north pole; the Arctic is believed to hold about 30% of the world's petroleum gas reserves and 90 billion barrel of petroleum.
Moscow often made clear that they are willing to enforce their interests by military means if necessary.
Russian sources claim their aircraft were on a normal training flight and did not violate Canadian airspace.

Ahh.. trying to penetrate, good.. more monies for Canadian air force, and the USAF as well. Go, 'anti-military' press! I wonder what happens when Russian navy helds military exercises in Mediterranean sea. Preparing to invade Italy? :angel:

Irony- was it?
Perhaps acting within own weight group (geographic ways) would bring no more laughter or despise worldwide for such "shows"?
 
Irony? Well, wherever Russia helds its military exercises (sometimes even inside Russia) it causes some political worries...

I mean, this is by no means show of force, nor muscle flexing nor anything like that. This is actually not just 'normal trainings' as well. Every one who needs to know, knows what force Russia does possess and what force it does not possess. This is all about money: recently Russian Air Force began to recieve such ammounts of money it hasn't seen since Soviet times, and those people in blue coatees have to show to their president that these money are not being spent in vain. They fly all around Russia all year long, but when in Kremlin they start to forget about this, AF commander gives 'a show'. The perfect variant is a show on NORAD stage of course.

It's ironic that a few days ago REAL TU-95s attempted to penetrate Canadian airspace precisely near that same airbase!
