Russian Special Forces Unique Training?

Until those guys actually succesfully diffuse a situation I wouldn't rate them highly.

They got a lot of people out of that Moscow theater safely, they deserve some serious credibility for that. Have you seen the HBO documentary with the footage taken by the hostage takers inside the Theater? Every one of those hostages should be dead right now.

nice, i dont know about better than navy seals, but im sure that these russian specialist troops mustve done more severe phusical mental training than their american counterparts, after all, russian soldiers are known for their endurance and will

Yes agree

I saw the full documentary.
The failure was also not in the siege itself but the work afterwards. Most of the people are believed to have drowned in their own vomit. Anyone with basic knowledge of first aid can tell you that if there is vomiting, you never put the guys on their backs like that. By using such a potent poison, it's almost ludicrous that no one considered vomiting on the part of the hostages.
But you are right. Those terrorists had that place wired up pretty good.

i doubt it is the most elite in the world, as far as i know the british SAS are better than any US elite forces, the french GIGN is also a very elite force.

Hey let's avoid that sort of talk. It leads to flame wars and you can't ever prove it.

SAS teaches US Air Force a lesson.
The use of ground to air communications by the scud hunting SAS during the Gulf War was so useful that US Special Forces have tried to emulate the crack British Regiment in Afghanistan by being 'data-linked' to every form of aircraft over the country. The US Special Forces use back-pack satellite linked laptops and GPS to provide intelligence on friendly troop movements and precise targeting co-ordinates on the others. Apparently the US system has thrown up one fault. Changing batteries in the GPS whilst actually performing target acquisition results in the target grid reference being changed to that of the sender, as one US Sergeant found. Apart from resulting in a battery modification it also attracted an attack from bombers overhead.

Delta's organization, selection and training on the British SAS model. u probably dun know SAS are US special forces's mentor.

Of course I know that. Because the SAS are the grand daddy of almost every modern SF organization. I've even read a whole book on the founding of Delta.
That does't neccesarily make them the best.
I personally believe the SAS are but that's just my own opinion that can't really be proved or disproved.

I hope this is something good for everyone? This is the best military book I have read next to Rommel and his Art of War by Field Marshal Erwin Rommel edited by Dr John Pimlott. This book is about Spetsnaz by "Viktor Suvorov". Great book about Spetsnaz and you can read it from your computer! Alot of their training and lots of lots of more jummy details, it contains everything a light weight reader needs togheter with details that makes your skin crawl, easy to read and a great book in general. :D
