Russia: Anti-Aircraft Missiles Delivered To Iran
January 16, 2007 14 56 GMT

Russia has completed transfers of the Tor-M1 anti-aircraft missile system to Iran, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Ivanov said Jan. 16. The Tor-M1 is a high-accuracy missile designed to intercept cruise missiles as well as both manned and unmanned aircraft. Despite U.N. sanctions on Iran, Russia insists that the contract was in line with international law and that the system is for defensive purposes only.

they cant do much with it until they are attacked and by then I wonder if US would deploy its F-22As which are stealth and radars cant detect them.

Just because they have them doesn't necessarily mean they can hit something with them. Training and maintenance are just as important as technology. The missiles are useless if the guy on the trigger doesn't know how to fire them. Did Russia send any instructors? Most missiles require complex electronics to lock-on and fire. How many spare parts for the firing systems did Russia deliver alongside the missiles? So, they have some shiny new missiles, but how effectively can they deploy them?

I am also hearing that Russia has promised the Iranian regime to upgrade the fleet of their MiG-29s
