Has anyone read Hunting Down Saddam by Robin Moore? Is it as farfetched as The Hunt for bin Laden was/may have been depending On who you talk too...

You obviously havn't read The Hunt for bin Laden. Alot of people saw It as a great exaggeration and Moore getting sucked into John Idema's plot.

If you like fiction being masked as reality. Moore had access to Army SF and a few other SOF units in Afghanistan. Good feedback and stories, then took it all and threw it away. Because of this, Moore was not allowed as much access in Iraq as he was in Afghanistan.

The book is poorly written and it has nothing in it that you couldn't find in three or four news reports. There is no "inside" story in this book, because (as I said above) Moore didn't have access to anyone willing to share operational information with him. What little information he did have, came from conventional forces as well as other reporters within the AO.

Remember, any books on SOF operations during OEF/OIF out today will contain about the same info, maybe a little worse, than what you would find through common news sources.

You may enjoy reading both of these books, but do not expect to get realistic accounts of the events nor any grasp of the events that have occurred.
