Rising military Suicides, Something Needs To be Done!

More U.S. military personnel have taken their own lives so far in 2009 than have been killed in either the Afghanistan
or Iraq wars this year, according to a Congressional Quarterly compilation of the latest statistics from the armed services.

At least 128 soldiers committed suicide in 2008, an increase from 2007 when a total of 115 suicides were recorded among
active duty and those in the Army Reserve and National Guard. Officials said the number may go even higher pending the
examination of 15 additional cases that could be self-inflicted.

At least 334 members of the military services have committed suicide in 2009, compared with 297 killed in Afghanistan and
144 who died in Iraq, the figures show.

Not everybody is equipped to handle Combat conditions and even every individual has a breaking point and more should be done.
Section leaders should notice and not dismiss change in behavior or singes.

120 War Vets Commit Suicide Each Week

The military refuses to come clean, insisting the high rates are due to "personal problems," not experience in combat.
