Relief Concert - Kanye West

I was a little surprised at some of the things Kanye West said during the Relief Concert last night, but He looked a little nervous, so I didn't think anything of it. He talked about how he hadn't done much to help victims yet, but that will all change now.

First off, at the end of the concert, he said "George Bush doesn't care about black people." Then the cameras cut away and that was that, but it came as no surprise after some of his, apparently unscripted, remarks a few moments earlier. (For the record, the incident was not in a later repeats of the show)

Some interesting comments from the NBC Relief Concert last night by rap star Kanye West:

1. America was set up "to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off as slow as possible."

2. "We already realized a lot of the people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way, and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us." (Referring to shoot-on-sight orders issued to National Guard troops to halt violence and looting in New Orleans.)

3. "I hate the way they portray us in the media. If you see a black family, it says they're looting. See a white family, it says they're looking for food."
