Little word of advice.... I have friends from People's Republic of China as well as the Republic of China. I have nothing against the people of both Nations.

As for the PRC current and past actions. I don't support the actions of a despotic regime. Have western powers robbed and mugged China? Yes.... has the PRC taken action against sovereign nations? Yes.

Tibet was a free independent nation. Under your logic the United Kingdom should come back and take the the Eastern Seaboard back from the USA because we were at one point part of the British Empire. Spain should take back Cuba and most of South America because they were once part of Spain......

The moment the PRC stops executing folks for speaking against the government and allows more then one party rule then I'll talk..... until then. No go.

I don't support the PRC, Iran, Venezuela, and other despotic regimes.

agree, i support for the freedom of speech and i support the idea of multi parties to govern the country, to make it more transparent. the chinese government has been very much corrupted, and need a political revolution i believe!
should taiwan be part of china? there is no such thing as should or shouldnt. whatever happens in the future will be it. maybe the whole world gets unified someday. current states is that its two country ruled by two different government, simple as that.
as for Tibet, under your logic, it belongs to china now, so it is part of china. just like california is part of USA, it would be non-sense if i call for california independence right?
US is just trying to tear China apart, and China is going to try to prevent it.
You are more than welcome to make comments on any issues or politics about. im just angry at some people who discriminate others for the sake of discriminating.

Lets not start delving into human rights abuse cases. I wouldn't want to start bringing up China's track record.

And if I'm not mistaken your flag identifies you as an Australian... Not Chinese. Or are you just living here?

I don't think we need to continue the off-topic discussion that is leading into country bashing.

I think we shouldn't look down on the PLA and their equipment too much, since not much infos are available about them.

Ok, Im no expert when it comes to long rifles. All I've ever shot with are handguns (glock-17, MAG-98), SMG's (pm-84), and good old mossberg. But I've read an interview with one of QBZ designer. He said that rifle was pushed to mass production as soon as first working prototype was ready. Guy was complaining about how Chinese govt didn't let him finish the development, wich causes that ergonomics and accuracy are not what they should be.

How can you measure the quality of a rifle by simply judging it by the political ideology of the nation from which it was manufactured?

Also, China is definitely not a Communist country, nor Socialist. Jesus, in one of the photos you posted a person is holding a bottle of Coca Cola...

Don't judge a book by its cover; The Chinese government claims to be a Socialist state, but in reality it shows very little Socialist/Communist economical or political traits (i.e There is a large amount of private property in China. Private Property goes against Socialism/Communism, in which everything is aimed to be owned by the community).

But to an extant I wouldn't be surprised if the weapon itself was mediocre at best; we cant pretend that China has been producing a lot of high-quality equipment.

As someone from Hong Kong I gotta say to you Chinese people, Hong Kong is Hong Kong, do not assume that we want to be part of your country. Your government is not mine, and in my heart there is no space for your Communist Regime. Arguing that Tibet, Xinjiang, HK, and Taiwan should be part of your country because you have a gun to our heads does not make it RIGHT. So with that, ding lei goh fai sei dai luk loh. It's in Cantonese so I haven't breached forum rules. :)

NOW. on topic,
I believe that while the M4 failed many times in the test, the QBZ-95 was not tested, so you cannot use that test in your argument Regisvo, as the QBZ could ACTUALLY BE WORSE. you obviously are no good at empirical testing.

Anyway, here's my 10 cents worth:
QBZ-95 internally is more similar to an AK in tolerances, good for the LARGEST ARMY IN THE WORLD, which is shrinking because the PLA realizes its too big to provide GOOD TRAINING to its solders.

the M16 is being phased out anyway to the 416, which i have no doubt in my mind would outperform the qbz-95 in any weapon performance test you throw at it. I also believe if you have 2 men of equal abilities, one firing a M16, another firing a QBZ-95, the man with the M16 will hit his target more consistently.

However, I believe the QBZ-95, as a smaller weapon is better suited for the average person of Chinese heritage as its balance and size is good for someone of medium stature. A standard format rifle can be a little front heavy, and a man of lesser build can more easily wield a bullpup config.

This is my first post. Hello lads.

I am not your boss red or black. I am one of Chinese people. Why are you so resentful of me? There are few people like you in Hong Kong, but ones can nerver be both of the snobbish and traitor.

Sure. Chinses weapons have not been perpetrating killing to demonstrate themselves.

Such an old thread, but sadly I read through the entire thing...

I just wanted to respond to a few things though, first being on the thread topic! The QBZ-95 looks to be a pretty cool gun, but honestly nothing special, and I only read this thread (initially) to learn more about it! However I did read the entire army-times article comparing the Scar, M4, 416, and XM-8 and like Dead2K1 said, totally irrelevant in this thread!

Yes the M4 performed the worst of all the guns tested and frankly I do believe all of the other guns in that test (of which I have only shot a scar and an ar-15...) are superior.

But I have no idea where you got the idea that this has anything to do with either the QBZ-95, or AK-47 which you seem to want to liken to the QBZ-95. These guns are American, German, and Belgian... and yeah they rock, especially the German and Belgian guns (The M4 is awesome too guys, but in this case it didn't stack up too well) but just because someone else made a gun better than the M4 doesn't mean the M4 is a bad gun! And it definitely doesn't mean that the QBZ-95 is better than the M-4.

Like so many before me have said, it may be awesome, it may not be, but until there is some wider testing done or it sees true warfare you can't really make any conclusions as to it's reliability.

Finally I have to chime in on the political side, and let me start by saying I have nothing against China or the Chinese. But Regis, I'm curious, what do you think about the whole situation with Ai Weiwei? And if you truly believe your country and government is so great why all the unrest? Thousands of people across your country are protesting the government and hundreds have been beaten and arrested, people there in support of basic human rights are being arrested. I generally don't see this as a matter of opinion, it's not like we here in the west don't like being beaten by plain clothes police officers because we are just ignorant to Chinese culture. Again I'm not bashing you as a whole country, just your government, and I'm definitely cheering you on as a people and I hope you gain your rightfully deserved freedom very soon!

Speaking of Mr. Ai Weiwei, I don't know how to identify him, for he and his fellow "Human rights activists" promote the human rights and the idea that the weak are the prey of the strong(the law of the jungle) simultaneously: They promote the human rights in the crowd; Among the persons who have power they promote the idea that the weak are the prey of the strong.

I provide you some informations written in English: http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=23403 There are more extreme-right informations written in Chinese which you can hardly hear from the press and news.

AS for the government rather than have the right to choose government, I prefer to be able to choose reality which is more basic.

What an argument that takes 4 years. I love my country as you do, Regisvo. But what you've done is not an appropriate way of defending her.
The QBZ-95 is of obvious defects, which is known to many Chinese including me. However, firearms need to be tested and adjusted before they become perfect. am i right?
And in terms of politics and something related, governments all over the world are similar even identical in brutality and bureaucracy; the citizens are all brainwashed into the so-called main-stream culture which in China is obedience, in democratic neighbourhood freedom. Problems and conflicts arise only in the stagnation. Government smashes and oppresses whoever is inclined to undermine the ruling of current administration, which happens in every ages and every corners, including the New and Old Continents.
BTW, I disapproves of the words of the last Hongkong person. I mean it's stupid not to admit yourself as a Chinese, even if you have changed you nationality. You can't deny it because you share the same bloodline with us. I think it is more proper to claim that you are a PRC dissident. I apologize for my rudeness but I just can't stand the ignorant attack and groudless pride of Hongkong person.

Sorry to dig up and old thread but here are my views on the (export ver.) QBZ. My cousin back in old Phil. has a QBZ-97, I saw him shoot it and it was decently accurate and was quite reliable (it was monsoon). He did have many criticisms of the rifle though, for one the gun has too many parts and in a combat situation; any faults that occur would simply be hell to fix. The other thing is that the sights were a bit too high.

When it comes to M16's v.s QBZ's I'd still go for the M16; the QBZ has a substantial no. of flaws but in my eyes it is possible for the Chinese improve upon their design and make it at least solid enough to stand up against contemporary rifles such as the Kalash74 or M16. Im generally inexperienced when firing assault rifles since I mostly just use bolt-actions (Australian law/some dude in the 70's with an AK killed dozens of people :O)

Mac Daddy, can you just shut the **** up you prick? You've never even handled the gun personally (Type 95), how the **** would you know how it performs? The Type-97 is different from the Type-95, and if you say it sucks, how come other countries also use it? Go search on youtube the QBZ-95, and the first videos would be showing about the reliability, so you can shut up. The M4A1 is called **** by many US soldiers, as the reliability issues have claimed lives and also risked more. Stop being a ****, you keep talking about maintenance of the firearm, well thats not reliability anymore if you are gonna clean it all the ****ing time. And judging by the way you referring to Chinese people, I can say that you are just another Capitalist piece of ****, and you are also racist and disrespectful. If you wanna be taken serious, why dont you stop being such an ******* at the start? Anyone can say that they handled this, or they handled that, but they can never confirm it unless they prove it. The reliability of the QBZ-95 was already proven on youtube, what about your claims? How reliable is the information that you keep giving us?
