1. Let's not right off Gadaffi so fast. He is smart, a survivor and an experienced man. We have seen him fire the first Scud that he has. They are talking of the number he has; but who knows for sure? He has gold - plenty, so he is not financially too much under pressure.

2. Libya is a highly tribal nation. The old monarchists (Idrisite) based in the old capital Benghazi were always anti-Gadaffi. But they themselves lack any semblance of unity. There is no clear chain of command in the rebel group. They have shown clear strategic concept so far. It has all been individual show here and there scattered all over. Who is the boss is a question? Charisma is a vital quality under such circumstances. There is none with anything like that. (In this location when Rommel was hammering the British, Churchill had brought in a charismatic eccentric commander - Montgomery to take over.)

3. The Libyan War has become boring. Except for Sarkozy wanting to become Napoleon, none the Western leaders seem very serious. Except the short height and licentious habit Sarkozy has nothing nearing Bonaparte. And Gadaffi knows Time as a factor of war is in his favor. World opinion is turning in his favor. The Africans are with him. The Muslim block, barring the oil monarchs, also.

4. Isn't it possible that Gadaffi is waiting for the scattered rebels to concentrate in one location - Brega or Zawiyah perhaps. And having got them concentrated at one point, Gadaffi might launch all the fire power he has to wipe them off once for all.
