Hello-

I'm the official rep for the Military Tournament between ALL of the Divisions for the upcoming computer game "Act of War." We wanted to create a fun exclusive tournament for Military personnel only and this is it. If you know someone who might be interested please send this to them.

This is the game that was created by Retired US Air Force officer and novelist Dale Brown, and is getting rave reviews as one of the most amazing and groundbreaking military games ever made.

The graphics are incredible, the game play is outstanding, and best of all, the game uses real military strategies. The interaction between your ground troops and air forces is key, but the best gamers are the ones who can adapt to whatever situation they face just like reality. There are real weapons used in the game and even future technologies that are still being developed! There is also over an hour of REAL 35mm film that is integrated into the game. If you haven't heard of Act of War before you can check out the beautiful screenshots, read about all of the features and reviews, and even download and PLAY THE FREE DEMO here:

http://www.atari.com/actofwar/us/index.php

After checking that out, or if you've already seen the game, you'll surely be interested in signing up for our FREE Tournament. We want to create a huge tourney between all of the military divisions, which should create a lot of fun for all, and major bragging rights for some, but we can't do this without your help. If you are interested in this free tournament for Act of War, and you are in the military, you need to sign the petition in order to make it happen:

We need a lot of sign-ups in order to start the tournament so please tell your friends in the military about this and feel free to post any questions that you may have about the game. Thanks.

looks a lot like REAL WAR.
Which by the way, was REAL fake.

Well, there's one big difference. Dale Brown didn't help make Real War. I haven't played Real War but I'm sure the realism on Act of War is much better. Act of War might have some features that are similar to Real War and/or Command and Conquer, but the reviews are that it's far superior across the board.

Has anyone played the demo yet? You might want to check out this site for some good info and interesting pics:

Yeah? Well Real War wasn't made with Gunny
I'm downloading the demo now.
I just hope the weapon performances are realistic. The thing that turned me off about C&C was that the weapons were given real names, but their performances were bullcrap.

Let me know how you like the demo...

I know a handful of people complained about the same thing you did in regards to the C&C weapons, so I heard Act of War made it a point to make the weapon performances more realistic.

C&C is a good game but they just went totally wrong with the story line.

For what it's worth...everyone I've talked to enjoys AoW a lot more than C&C.

If you're not familiar with the story line behind Act of War, you might want to check out this Q&A Overview of the game with Atari's senior producer.

Another good Q&A is with the creative mind behind the game, Retired US Air Force officer and best-selling author Dale Brown.

Im not saying that Act of War is a bad game. I think its a great game and when it comes out on March 11th Im getting it. I would still have to say that C&C is a great line of games.

I see what you mean. I got a lot of entertainment out of C&C too. It's just that I don't expect to play it ever again when I get my hands on an advance copy of Act of War.

So how do you like the AoW demo OutcastHuman?

It hasnt downloaded for me yet. It freezes when I try and download it but I played it at a friends house and thought it was a great game so I cant wait until March 11th. Plus Im getting the game for free so its all the better.

I played the demo. It's alright. Nothing spectacular.

What were your favorite and least favorite aspects of the demo? Did you at least enjoy it more than Command & conquer and Real War?

Yes, free is always nice. So are you in the military? Do you like the idea of a huge 50,000-100,000 person Act of War tournament?

Yes I think this game is better than those two.

OK- I finally got my official copy of Act of War and here is my brief 1st impression.

What really sticks out is that you don't look at it in terms of mission 1, mission 2, etc. because all of the live-action cut scenes are blended in so well (and there's so MANY) that it seriously feels like an interactive movie/story. I've never really had that feeling from an RTS game before and it adds a LOT to the overall enjoyment of the game.

I only played multiplayer for an hour or so and was getting my azz kicked. I must have overestimated my skills and UNDERestimated the popularity of this game: Ranked #5 on gamespot with an 8.7 rating. Ah well, a couple hundred more hours under my belt and I'll be able to dominate. :D

Anyone else play this yet? I'll be down for some multiplayer action once I get a little better.
