A sign of how people truly love Che Guevara in Venezuela. (Can't do that in Cuba or they would be killed by the secert police. Venezuela will be like that very soon also sadly.)

Where are the photos of people so desperate to escape the throes of communism that they find anything that floats to attempt to get to Florida?

Take a good look Europe, what you see in their eyes is the stare of death, it is the same dead stare from Iraqis under Hussein, Sudanese, in fact almost the whole African Continent. The free and the brave may not be able to help this generation, but there is hope for future generations. Or, we can send the UN in to watch and keep count of the dead.

Why is this Europe's fault? We're not the ones imposing a trade embargo on Cuba. I'm not saying the corrupt leadership isn't playing a big role in the country's misery too of course.

But then, there's a lot of capitalist countries that are doing worse.

I think the emberago is silly and is a stupid fossil of the cold war, the only people its hurting is the cuban people not the government.

I mean really, what are we trying to accomplish, see how many cubans we can starve to death.

I believe his name is spelled CASTRO. This question almost reaches the point of not deserving of an answer.

Fidel has already refused any support from the US, such as aid offered when a hurricane almost levelled the island. This is easily solved but it will have to come from Cuba, not the US. The problem with poverty in Cuba is the Government was completely supported by the former Soviet Union and collapsed along with them. It all goes back to watch who you hang out with.

Even if the Embargos were lifted, nothing would reach the people. I WAS THERE. I LIVED THERE, I WAS BORN THERE, AND I HAVE SEEN THE VIRTUES OF COMMUNISM.

The Castro government wouldn't let shit get near the people. And Europe and Canada. Stop the tourism. Your money funds the Castro Government. I have seen the Tourist Sections of Havana as a child. I was amazed, makerts with foods of all kind. Entire sections of town that were different than what I was raised in.

The real Havana is a cesspool of flith and death. Building are collapsing becasue they are in disrepair.

So when anyone here tells me that I don't know what a hard life is.

Remember this.

I am a Cuban by Birth. But an American by the grace of God. I came to the USA along with my father because he knew that we would have a better life. And we do. We live in a upscale middle class neighborhood. I have a education and the pride knowing that I served MY COUNTRY durning a time of war. I still consider myself Cuban. Cuba will always have a place in my heart. But I am AMERICAN 100%. I love this land and I will defend it with my last breath in my lungs.

'Nuff Said...

PS - Because I have seen first hand what a secert police and corrupt government can do to people. I am a huge believer in Self Defense and carrying of concealed firearms.

Why not? To me it seems the Castro government is quite pragmatic. They know poverty is a threat to their power. They know because it was poverty that made their own revolution a succes 50 years ago. And I've never heard of them spending money Sadam-style on palaces with golden water taps and a fleet of Rolls-Royces.

In the UN ranking on living conditions (Human Development Index), Cuba ranked 52th wolrdwide in 2003, ahead of countries like Mexico, Panama, Brazil and Colombia. (I still would rather live in any of those though - except maybe Colombia... I guess kidnappers would leave you even less liberties than those cuban commies. )

That's odd, because Cuba sent hundreds of doctors to the US during the Katrina flood last year.

EMBRAGO

We will not in anyway receive support from a nation run by the likes of Castro and Chavez.

Hugo Chavez offered free gas and the United States of America said no to that too.

Haha...Call it making a deal with the devil, but considering how high gas was then, I would have accepted it.

Yeah why not, every barrel of oil Chavez gives away he will not be able to sell, leaving him with less money for his plans on world domination. By declining his generous offer you are actually only helping communist Venezuela! :|
