I have seen a quote from a General Officer something like:

"A soldier should not determine the value of his contribution based upon his proximity to the front lines."

I can't recall who said this or what exactly the quote is. Can anybody help with this? Thanks. Russ

Do you know anyting more about, like the time period it's from etc.??

I've always thought this poem by John Milton expressed a similar idea nicely:
