Question to USMC Cryptologic Linguists

Reading the MOS billets for the USMC, I've come across 4 different Crypto-Linguist MOSs, separated each by their language specialty (these four being Arabic, Korean, Spanish, and Russian).

I'm curious to know if languages outside of the MOS assignment can be given by the time a recruit reaches DLI (Defense Language Institute)?

Recently I was messaged by a Marine linguist at DLI, being told that another linguist Marine was assigned -Chinese-. This language isn't even in one of the four designated language billets. What exactly causes this deviation to occur, and what factors work to influence a change like this?

You really need to ask a recruiter maybe he can explain it or get the info from the 2600 field Monitor.

The office had no clue. In fact, I had to specify what I meant by the MOSs being separated by different language billets.

They can get the info problem is that field is extermely small in the Corps and fairly tight lipped. As you've noticed theres not alot of info on it.
