Topic: A question about rank

When I met soldiers from the U.S. Army, I never see a corporal among them. In contrast, in the USMC I often see several.

Is the rank of corporal not in use in the Army?

Another thing.

Are Chaplains Commissioned Officers in U.S. and do you salute them?

All Chaplains are Commissioned Officers and Corporal is a rank in the US Army.

To add to Sarah’s post, I believe the Marines have two corporal ranks: Corporal, Enlisted grade E-4; and Lance Corporal, Enlisted grade E-3.

In the Army an E-3 is a Private First Class so the Marines do have more “Corporals”

Thanks all you for your response.

What I meant was, that I have never seen a Corporal in a U.S. Army Infantry Company. Seems like this rank is not in use.

I was a Corporal, with the power to ruin a service persons day regardless of their rank.
