Putin accuses Ukraine of aiding Georgia

NOVO-OGARYOVO, Russia - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin is accusing Ukraine of sending military personnel to fight against Russia in Georgia.

Putin asserted Ukrainian specialists operated weapons used against Russian servicemen during the August war.

Russia has said Ukraine helped arm Georgia before the war. Putin said Thursday that weapons sales may have occurred after the war began. He said the weapons systems were operated by Ukrainians.

"When people and military systems are used to kill Russian soldiers, it's a crime," Putin told reporters.

(This version CORRECTS APNewsNow. corrects that Putin did not refer to a specific type of weapon.)
