Procurment

Let’s say hypothetically, forget DOD or DOA or any branches acquisition area.

What if a unit of the military wanted to procure a product?

Assume they have the budget and it's not a weapon system.

At what rank would the person have to be to order a product?

Could a platoon leader be high enough?

Has anyone experience with this before?

Let's say it's food then as always your commisary officer would make the purchase otherwise your unit quartermaster does the purchasing.

Otherwise I would not know.

I'm not from the US myself so I can only answer for Norway.

Here a Company commander (Capt.) can order products made/sold outside of the Army.
Each company have a small budget they can use for stuff like that.

I got your PM. I do not think that my units have ever made a product. Most of the things that were made at my unit were Jerry riggs. Jerry riggs being unconventional contraptions that NCO's create to make thier military lives in the field a little bit easier.

my son's company makes a rehydration product designed for use by the military I was curious if units/brigades could make individual orders based on need. You know how the military works its a pain to get anything in a rapid fashion.

the link to his company www.advancedbiodelivery.com

It's actually really impressive stuff.
