Well, I have been reflecting on this a little bit.

From the General's perspective, the decision is really the benefits of deploying one (admittedly able) lieutenant, vs. the possibility of the region being destablised from concentrated insurgent attacks and a loss of morale across the whole army if the individual is captured.

I really do think the Army should take the line that it won't comment about the deployment of any particular unit or individual at least until they are already established in theatre (or even better, until they get back).

As far as I am concerned, I am happy to hear about Cornet Wales' adventures in Iraq once he is safely back in Combermere.

The virtues of OPSEC and PERSEC, piss on the bloody British press. If they had any discipline about them or true respect for the Prince and the troopers they'd STFU and let him deploy without the world ever being the wiser and upon his return... by all means. Bloody ****ing "journalists", bugger the lot of 'em.

I wonder if a "LT Harry Spencer" will find himself overthere?
