Is President Obama a Jimmy Carter clone?
President Obama's delay in releasing his Afghanistan plan seems to be having an adverse effect on the United States allies.

"Defense Secretary Robert Gates attends a conference but, with the Obama administration wrestling over its Afghan strategy, isn't in a position to push Canada to reconsider a troop withdrawal plan."By Julian E. Barnes LA Times

Is President Obama being deliberate in delaying the release of his plans or is he as indecisive as he appears? Is he going to be as poor on Foreign Policy as President Carter?

Carter also had Stagflation. What're the odds of that replicating with all the spending going on?

"Even Obama's personal popularity among Asians didn't translate into policy successes in talks with the region's leaders, The New York Times reported.

He apparently failed to move China any closer to embracing broad sanctions against Iran for its nuclear ambitions. Obama and South Korea's president offered no new proposals to break the impasse over North Korea's nukes."Steve Pendlebury

Seems with the problem of Iran, there is at least a parallel in poor Foriegn policy between Presidents Carter and Obama.

So, you're not saying there is a connection, you're just asking a question.

There's a spot open at CNN with your name on it.

In stating there is at least a parallel, that would seem to indicate a connection.

How about a list.
Halting eastern Europe missile defense. Made Obama popular with the Russians. Poland and Hungary not so much.
After the missiles were stopped. Oh, they find a previously hidden enrichment plant in Iran.

Seen any indication North Korea wants to negotiate?
President Obama is probably practicing his Nobel Peace Prize speech.

How impressed was China with his visit?

President Obama can probably get a job with Habitat for Humanity after his term.

With the amount of spending we should see movement in the economy, if not you will have your Stagflation. But I was addressing his foreign policy.

The missiles were a terrible idea from the very beginning, and created more problems than they solved. He honestly did the right thing to cancel them, but he should have given more stuff to the Poles and Czechs as a reimbursement.

Not even the Chinese have much luck talking with North Korea right now, and they're supposedly allies. And China just wants their loans paid off.

The failed Presidency of Jimmy Carter wasn't limited to Foriegn Policy.

Did I say it was?
Are you saying that President Obama's economic policies are as vanilla as his foreign policy?

Things like relations with the Chinese have more to do with America's percieved wane in power and the increase in Chinese power.
America's overall power trumps the Chinese but the Chinese are only interested in their neighborhood at the moment and China doesn't have to really worry about strategic reach in their neck of the woods while the US does.
