Two bit thugs? So anyone that does not agree with the current policies of the current administration is a two bit thug? I thought that dissent was patriotic? Didn't the current sec of state opine that during the last adiministration..guess that only flows one way. Kinda of like the Senator today who said opponets of obamacare were aryans. Or Ried who opined that opponets of obamacare were akin to opponets of abolition.

Or the AG who's law firm threw up roadblocks to trying of Gitmo detainees and is now trying to fake the funk and cry about the length of time they have been detained.

News flash.

I have to respect the office......not the politican filling it.

I have to obey lawful orders.

I do not have to agree with nor support policies that come out of that office.

I do not have to take what escapes is lips as the word of God.

I have the right (for now) to disagree and to voice my disagreement within reason.

I have the right to vote for and support any candidate or sitting offical I chose and to actively support any candidate who runs against a sitting offical from dog catcher to POTUS.

I am not required to blindly and quitely accept all policies and edicts without question. He is not the dear leader he is an elected offical.

These rights are granted me by the Constitution, as long as that document remains in effect I will excercise my rights under it.
Did you read what I wrote? I didn't say that at all, not even close. What I said present day countries that call themselves communist are really run by 2-bit thugs who wish to avoid being called dictators, countries like Cuba under Castro or China. I never once implied people who disagreed with Obama where thugs, nor did I suggest that you weren't entitled to disagree with the POTUS (I certainly do). Ultimately What I am saying is that your rationale for disliking Obama doesn't make very much sense.

So you were referring to Van Jones. Well first of all Van Jones had a loose association with a Marxist/Socialist Group, (and the 911 truthers) which is not at all the same thing as being a communist. But so what? its really not a big deal. We had members of congress on both sides who were active members of the KKK. I would have greater reservations about having a KKK member in office than a Socialist. I could care less about a man's past unless it impacted his present-day job.

Second of all Van Jones wasn't a "Czar" he was merely an adviser for creating employment related to the environment, and third of all he doesn't work for the Obama Administration anymore as of September so its old news. The whole Van Jones story came from Glenn Beck and was nothing but a tempest in a teapot. Beck, and a few right-wing politicians trying to score brownie points with the rightwing herd by embarrassing the president and it worked because like with the healthcare debate Obama showed that he was Spineless, and his opponents both in and out of the democratic party walked right over him. Obama's meekness has only emboldened his enemies.

He shouldn't have accepted Van Jones resignation, there wasn't any reason to. He is so eager to be "friends" with the crazies in the right wing he threw one of his own people to the sharks. I'd have told Glenn Beck to stick his "outrage" where the sun don't shine.

Obama could have passed the healthcare bill with all the trimmings through reconciliation process (like Bush did with his tax cuts). But he was too afraid at being yelled at by the crazies he compromised his plan to death so that all the major things that might have made a difference were taken out. That's what I call being spineless, and he had better watch out because nobody is going to vote for a timid president in 2012, not even the democrats.

Wolfen

Exactly my Point. I'd have to say no. Castro was never really a true believer in actual communism, he merely adopted it to suit his purposes (namely in order to be friendly with the USSR). China abandoned Communism when it went to a capitalism style economy, and North Korea is a military dictatorship. Vietnam is the country that comes the close, and their system of government is unique.

In Italy we like Mr. Obama very much, many people admire him... I'm among those people.
How I hope everyone in Italy would say the same as Wolfen Sir about our president and our Prime Minister and his government. This is the main sign of a mature domocracy: members elected represent the People. Alex
Hi Alex,

I think the point that many US citizens miss here, is that, because the President of the USA is probably the most powerful man on earth. He is not merely a US political figure, but really the mover and shaker of the western world, and everything he does affects us all in some small way. The Americans see him as either Republican or a Democrat, whereas the rest of the western world sees him in a far broader light, especially his impact on world peace and stability.

In this respect President Obama is seen as a breath of fresh air to the world.

Personally I think he is not perfect, but he is still the best thing to hit the USA in my lifetime. He has regained a lot of respect for the US administration worldwide.

Cuba is definitely not Communist, neither is China.

North Korea is more comparable to tribes and kingdom that were around before Anno Domini.

God that was wonderful to read. I agree 200%.

Politics should not be about the party, they should be about the person who's about to be shouldered with the responsibility of an entire nation.

True, but as he affects the world should he neglect his own people in any way?
Just like if he signs the health care bill with no public free option that will screw me out of my current health insurance, that has already been discussed by the local city council here, and without the free public option I wil not be bale to afford health care for my family therefore I will receive a fine for being poor. my view on the free ooption was discussed on another thread we all know how I feel about it, but there has to be something for working Americans at the end of the day.
