A poem entitled "The guns."

By Private Baldrick, Batman to Captain Black Adder

Richard Curtis co-wrote Black Adder Goes Forth with Ben Elton.
He also wrote the screen play fo War Horse.
The episode with Rik Mayal as Lord Flash Heart and Ade Edmondson as the Red Baron was one of the funniest.
Flash Heart's advice about treating your aero plane like your women is absolutely brilliant!

This is just so funny, and slightly rude too!

Just to end the process...

All brilliant, but ultimately there is this scene, and it always sends shivers down my spine:

I have the box set of the complete Black Adder, all four series plus the various one off specials.
It includes interviews with all the cast.
Rowan Atkinson explains how that last scene, where they go over the top, was filmed in one take.
The director wanted to do a second take, but Rowan and other cast members said no. They said it was too emotional and they couldn't face doing it again.

My son, Sam is twelve and absolutely loves the whole lot.
The first time he heard Lord Flasheart's line about getting in the aeroplane 5 times a day etc, he howled with laughter and was in tears.
I was shocked he got it without asking what he meant.
I was in big trouble with the wife when he repeated the line to her later.

I love it, it's simply brilliant.
How can a comedy about war otherwise end!

It is an emotional rollercoaster ride of less than a minute - brilliant!

I hate that last scene because it emphasises the total disregard senior officers had for junior officers and the rank and file. So many lives were lost and wasted unnecessarily and for what? Haig was warned to change his tactics as Britain was running out of men.

The British comedies are superb; I preferred the early versions of the Black Adder (the medieval time). I enjoyed the TV-series "Allo Allo", a sitcom about the "lifeline." The struggle to get British airmen back to Britain based on the TV series "Secret Army." Not a comedy, though.

Ah Allo Allo one very funny show, the English/French policeman's accent always cracked me up.

One of the best and funniest movies ever made was the "Life of Brian." Completely irreverent, I heard that certain church groups wanted it banned.

When I was in my last year at school, the film club were going to show it but when the headmaster found out, he banned it, even though he had never seen it.
Instead, we got to see "The Wild Geese"!

You must see the bright side of life, it is a funny movie. There were reactions when the movie appeared.
