Hi, I'm doing a summer school project for my Milatary Academy. I'm new. I saw an Join the Army Commerical and I think it's something I want to do. I need to find some info from the internet. I need to be an Army member and know everything about him. I'm going to be a Army Interpter.

I need to know:
What my MSO would be.
Where I was in basic training.
What a M60 is.
And any other intresting Army info.

Thank-you guys so much. I would really like to do well on this becuase I really think I want to be in the Army as a carear.
 
an M60 is a machine gun (happiness is a belt feed weapon :D )
, not sure but depends on where you live, for where you go for basic training.

It's a project all new commers have to do. I have to know all this stuff about a person in the army. if I live in Fl where would I have gone to basic training. What's a MSO for a translator and anyhintg else you could help me out with. I appreicate it so much. Thanks!
 
MSO is military specialisation _____ or smth like that, its to do with what ur job is, from what i can gather.

So If I was a translator my MSO would be 97L...Is that all?!?1 Just three charcters? Or are there more.
And Where is a basic training camp I could say I trained at?

Let's see, I went to the web site and put the word "translator" into the search field and here's what I got for MOS's:


97L Translator/Interpreter
The Translator/Interpreter is primarily responsible for converting written or spoken foreign languages into English and other languages, and they usually specialize in a particular foreign language.

98G Cryptologic Linguist
The Cryptologic Linguist is primarily responsible for performing and supervising the detection, acquisition, location and identification of foreign communications using signals equipment.

98H Communications Locator/Interceptor
The Communications Locator/Interceptor is responsible for performing and supervising the detection, acquisition, location and identification of foreign communications using International Morse Code (IMC) and radio-printer (non-Morse), as well as signals intelligence/electronic warfare (SIGINT/EW) collection and location equipment.

98J Electronic Intelligence Interceptor/Analyst
The Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) Interceptor/Analyst is primarily responsible for performing and supervising the detection, acquisition, location and identification of foreign ELINT.

98K Signal Collection/Identification Analyst
The Signal Collection/Identification Analyst is primarily responsible for performing and supervising the collection, identification, exploitation and analysis of foreign radio-teletype, facsimile and data communications

So you should pick one and then see what the Army site has to say about it. You can even chat on line with a real recruiter. I'm sure they would be able to give you the most up to date information available.
 
To answer your question abou MOS's. They all start with the first three digits (such as 97L) there are two other digits at the end that indicate the pay level of the job, starting with 10, 20,30 etc. with 97L10 being a private. 97L is pronounced "ninety seven lima".
 
I know the MOS thing is for the Army, I don't know about the Marines or Navy but the Air Force has an AFSC or Air Force Specialty Code this also identifies your job as well as your skill level in that job...

I think where you would go to boot camp depends on what job you choose to do and where you live???

The Air Force does all of it's basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX. I do belive the Marine Corp does boot camp in CA and NC..

Yes, the Marines has MOS also. And you are correct Parris Island, and San Diego are the only Marine Corps boot camps.
