MANILA, Aug 22, 2006 (AFP) - The Philippine government Tuesday confirmed
that a Filipino truck driver has been killed in Iraq.

Rogelio Alere Saraida, 47, from Bacoor south of Manila died when his truck
was hit by a grenade fired by insurgents in Mosul on August 12, the foreign
department said.

He was employed by the Kuwait-based Parsons International and was the fifth
Filipino to be killed in Iraq in the last two years.

Despite a government ban on Filipinos working in Iraq it is estimated that
up to 6,000 are still there. Many are employed by civilian contractors
servicing the US military.
