And your're wrong about the left, the left would LOVE it if she ran because that would absolutely guerentee the reelection of Obama. I promise you Howard Dean and Tim Kaine are out there praying to the Liberal Gods that the GOP would be as (stupid) enough to nominate such a weak candidate, espicially one with all the baggage that Palin carries. Palin is a tea-baggers wet dream, but here's the wakeup call. Aside from her obvious total ignorence about anything outside of Alaska, Palin has made alot of enemies, most of which are Republicans. One thing I noticed about Palin is that she shares a serious flaw with Bush...she never takes responsibility for any of her mistakes and has problems telling the truth. She accepted no blame for troopergate, no blame for the fact her husband is sessesionist loon, no responibility for her failure as a parent, no responisibilty for losing the election, no responibility in her multiple ethics violations, no responsibility for bridges to nowehere and other Pork projects. The best bet for the GOP in 2012 (so far) is a moderate like Romney. Let me tell you why. The GOP thinks that swinging to the far right (aka Bush) is the way to win the next election. But they ignore the fact that the Govornors faces in NJ, VA, and the MA Senate Seat were all won by GOP Moderates. A Ultra conservative candidate hasnt won any major election since 2004. Meanwhile in NY-23 the ultra rightwing candidate got his ass handed to him in a area that hadnt voted Democrat in 130 years. The fact is that as much as the country might be dissatistified with Obama, they hate the far right even more. The GOP might have already turned the page on the Bush Administration but the country still hasnt forgotten that the sh** storm we are presently in is not the fault of Obama. |

So, the gay German Foreign Secretary Westerwelle comes to the dinner with his husband? Fine with me, I have no prob recognizing that he is as sharp a thinker and as diplomatic an actor as our nation needs. That Willi Brandt had broken with his wife and more than 350 lovers in his political career as a sex addict, did make the yellow press notes, but never the serious press, nor was it ever discussed in parliament, to us that would seem indecent, as it is nothing political (and since when did morale issues played a role in that field?). Helmut Kohl, the chancellor of the German Unity, left his severely ill wife (in private) in the first year of his political reign and went with his secretary, an open secret over the last 10 years of his government, even now you will find it hard to find anything like that on the net, it sure never was a political issue (nor did he get elected because his wife and kids were so impressive), this is not the way we attack our politicians in Europe, nor do we eletct them on those issues (French boss Sarkozy might be searching himself an issue here, but then just because *he* put that on the agenda and made it one). We attack: Stupidity, corruption, conflict of interests, ideology, service record (or the lack of), inability, hypocrasy, but why it should be important politically whether my president/governor/mayor loves a man instead of a woman does not really make sense to the majority of Europeans (because we already know, from our 1.200 yrs political history, that the ppl with the highest proposed moral standards are simply the ppl suffering from the worst conscience because they cannot cope with their own expectations, Mrs. Robinson from North Ireland just being the latest example). Better he *really* loeves someone! Still worse, from our mainstream POV, would be what we call "Sippenhaft", a word introduced by the German Nazis, that meant that *all relatives* of a person would have to be held responsible and punished if the person in question failed in any respect, related to what you are stating above I find that abhorrent: Why does Mrs. Palin have to be judged as politician over her husband´s perceived failures? Do you really think this is a political argument? Try and look up on the net something about the husband of Mrs. Merkel, the current German chancellor.... - - ...what did you find? Well, that is the European take and why we do not really understand what is going on in the US of A in this perverted look on private life most of the time... Rattler |

The question is, what does she offer?
Everyone's always fixated on the opponents that no one really stops to consider what their candidates are proposing instead. To be honest, I don't know what Obama's next step is. At the State of the Union address, he just potato sacked everyone and I've known a few politicians who have done that in other countries and that usually meant they were on the road to lame duck alley. Why didn't Obama take care of health care? I think your folks have to answer for that one. Epic bail outs. Because of the economic crisis that happened on President Bush's watch and because of Clinton's decision to repeal the Glass-Steagal Act many years before. President Obama was forced to choose between two options: massive bailouts or a complete collapse of the American economy. He made the right choice. You have obviously never seen a complete economic melt down before. You have no idea about the kind of chaos he averted. Rhetoric upon rhetoric, where does it end for you guys? Yes, many of these problems are Bush's fault and some of these problems are much older than that. Clinton's got his share of faults in it too, some of it quite severe. But it's not like America went belly up because Obama became President. He's been President for one year, I don't agree with everything he's doing but he doesn't deserve most of this flak either. He's been in office for one year. A President's performance usually starts to either bear fruit or show their issues years afterwards. Thought you folks didn't like the whole Generation MTV mentality where if it's not done in 3 minutes, it's taking too damned long. |
