Some of it is his own doing. And this Bhutto killing, its easy to blame al-Qaeda but I am not convinced they were behind it this time.

Willing? Yes. Able? Yes. Had more to gain than lose? -Iffy.

If I check the scorecard it seems to me that Musharaff had more to gain from Bhutto's death than al-Qaeda does. Bhutto was a popular figure in Pakistan, Musharaff is about as lovable as an IRS agent.
Al-Qaeda is desperately searching for a new home and knocking off popular public leaders is a good way to annoy people. They learnt this in Iraq.


Just speculating of course.
