Topic: Pakistan test fires its first Cruise Missile!

I am very happy to share information about this drastic and important achievement of Pakistani Scientists! 8)

PICS:

This Cruise Missile is called "Baber" and it has range of 310 Miles (500 KM).

Here is some news:

Pakistan successfully test fires cruise missile:
(Updated at 0900 PST)

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan successfully test fired cruise missile ‘Babar’ on Thursday morning.

Pakistan army spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan has confirmed that Pakistan successfully test fired ground launched cruise missile ‘Babar’.

While talking to Geo TV, Shaukat Sultan said that missile is capable of carrying all kinds of nuclear and conventional warheads with a range of 500km. It could not be detected by radar due to sophisticated system. The launch validated all parameters.

Mr. Shaukat said that Pakistan is the first ever country of the region who carried out cruise missile test and now Pakistan has joined the club of countries producing cruise missile. President Pervaiz Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the scientists on successful test.

More news from Pak Geo TV:

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday test fired its first cruise missile, capable of carrying nuclear and conventional warheads.

The missile, named Babar, has a range of 500 kilometers (310 miles), and was fired early Thursday.

``By the grace of Allah, all design parameters for the flight were validated,'' Pakistan Army spokesman Maj. Gen Shaukat Sultan said.

The statement said the Babur missile flies parallel to the surface of the ground, can hit its target with ``pinpoint accuracy'' and can be fired from war ships, submarines and fighter
jets.

``The technology enables the missile to avoid radar detection and penetrate undetected through any hostile defensive system,'' it said.

Shaukat Sultan said Pakistan has joined the few countries ``that can design and make cruise missiles.''

President Pervaiz Musharraf and Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz have congratulated the team of scientists and engineers associated with the project.

Musharraf praised the scientists and engineers involved in the Babur project for their success, ``and reiterated Pakistan's resolve to continue to meet emerging challenges and geo-strategic developments in its neighborhood.

Pakistan had a number of American Cruise missiles crash land in Pakistan with out exploding when they were being fired willy nilly at the Taliban. They just stripped down the American ones and adapted it.

Le Enfienld has a point because two un-exploded Cruise Missiles from US were found in Pak territory and our Military sealed the region and probably took them for studying purposes.

This must have provided a good technical help for our Cruise Missile program.

And it is not a Chinese adopted material. This rumour is being spreaded by Indian sources.

The latest information is that this Missile will be embedded in our Naval Vessels and the new Agosta-B subs. And this Missile will under-go serial production from next month.

Here is the account for Serial Production:

‘Babur’s serial production by next month’

By Muhammad Saleh Zaafir;

ISLAMABAD: The indigenously developed first cruise missile of Pakistan Hataf-VII Babur will be in serial production by next month and the batteries of the same would be handed over to the armed forces accordingly.

This was disclosed in an exclusive interview with The News by Dr Samar Mubarakmand, chairman National Engineering and Scientific Commission of Pakistan (Nescom) on Thursday evening.

Responding to a question, Dr Mubarakmand said that a new test range had been developed for the new series of missile testing in Balochistan. The Babur Hataf-VII was test-fired from this range. The missile landed at the target in the same province with the accuracy of centimetres. Pakistan is the fourth country after the United States, Russia and China that has the technology of this precision.

The test has been 100% successful and accuracy was 99.9% so I don't understand what could bother it for induction process.

This is the first test and there would be more tests indeed.

Our military is quiet smart in these things!

Id like to think my countrys is as well. Assuming that India truly desighned this missile and didn't just copy a foreighn desighn, its risky to deploy a weapon system that quickly. If it fails when it counts then theres no point.

United States has tested its F/A-22 for almost 10 years before ever begging deployment.

What do you think about the testing we did for verification and it was a success at even the first launch. It may be hard for you to believe about this achievement but this is a reality.

Pakistan has a very well established Missile program and work on Cruise Missile program started in 1998. So its 6 years now.
