Well, glad I missed out entirely on whatever the flamewar was, lol.

The one I don't get is India. India isn't all that far behind China in population. They're over the billion mark. With that large of a chunk of humanity, you'd think they'd turn in a better showing at the Olympics.

See, that's what's irritating. The official site lists based on the number of gold medals. They should be in this order:

1.) United States 34 38 28 100
2.) Russia 23 26 35 84
3.) China 31 17 14 62
4.) Australia 17 16 16 49
5.) Germany 14 15 18 47
6.) Japan 15 10 11 36
7.) France 11 8 12 31
8.) Italy 9 10 11 30
9.) Britain 9 8 12 29
10.) South Korea 8 11 9 28
11.) Ukraine 9 5 8 22
12.) Netherlands 4 9 9 22
13.) Cuba 5 6 10 21
14.) Romania 8 5 6 19
15.) Spain 3 11 5 19
16.) Hungary 8 6 3 17
17.) Greece 6 5 4 15
18.) Belarus 2 4 8 14
19.) Canada 3 6 3 12
20.) Bulgaria 2 1 9 12

Are you serious?
Of course it should be ranked by Golds not total, it has always been so officially.

Only Gold counts, Only Winner counts, Silver or Bronze are all Losers.

Look, how about this:

CountryA:
99 Gold 0 Silver 0 Bronz => Total 99

CountryB:
0 Gold 0 Silver 100 Bronze ==> Total 100.

So CountryB with 100 bronze better than CountryA with 99 Golds?

Give me a break, that's laughing, your way of ranking total is in this case so irritating

Don't know how you got into this conclusion.

The so called "Dream team" is a big loser, bronze. Only Gold counts, that is Agentine, the big winner

US has most golds, according to your logic, id have to say we are the winners, and every other country Is a loser.

That and the fact that China gets Gold in those pointless sports like Ping Pong, that have no place in the Olympics, Badmitten is another one, if those sports can be in the Oympics Football should be also, it is atleast the most popular sport in ONE country, tell me, in how many countries is Badmitten the main sport? In how many countries is Ping Pong the main sport? Curling? WTF?

Hmmm:
Country 1: 17 G 12 S 9 B
Country 2: 16 G 39 S 47 B

Which one is better?

1. USA: 105+76+29=210
2. RUS: 81+54+38=173
3. CHN: 96+34+14=144
4. AUS: 51+32+16=99
5. GER: 54+18+12=84
6. JPN: 42+32+18=92
7. FRA: 33+18+13=64
8. KOR: 27+24+9=60
8. ITA: 27+22+11=60
10. GBR: 27+18+12=57

That is my ranking system, 3 points for Gold, 2 for Silver, 1 for Bronze.

1. USA: 102
2. RUS: 92
3. CHN: 63
4. AUS: 49
5. GER: 48
6. JPN: 37
7. FRA: 33
8. ITA: 31
9. KOR: 30
10. GBR: 30

That is going by Medal count, that is the ranking in the right most column of Flying frogs post.

1. USA: 35
2. CHN: 32
3. RUS: 27
4. AUS: 17
5. JPN: 16
6. GER: 14
7. FRA: 11
8. ITA: 9
8. KOR: 9
8. GBR: 9

And that is by Gold medals, which as you can see, does not reward depth. Like the US Sweeping the 200M.

I didn't think that both of these would fit on one post, so I split it into two.

We re treating the blacks better, better than whites even, ever here of Afirmative Action?
