I live here and work here and deal with businesses in and outside China and with the government and bureaucracy of this and other countries and I would daresay I know just a touch more than your young butt.

This thread is dealing with the ruling party of this country and its treatment of dissidents. It is not talking about economic policies and the exigencies thereof.

I seriously hope they are... I have this inkling that they are but there are no news articles or anything about it to confirm it for me. Oh wait a minute... I'm talking about the US; they created secrecy. Man, I just want one itty bitty piece of confirmation that the US has such a project going on. I just want to know my beloved country is socking it to those lousy commies.

I truly hope so. You may be thinking of the ideal while bulldogg is thinking of the reality. Maybe I am totally off too and you may actually be talking about the exact same thing.

On another note. . . .

Here are some tips when debating or arguing:
  1. Do not take offense when your age is called into question. It only makes you look young and petulant, or old and stubborn.
  2. Don't try to out talk the expert. (if it is a self proclaimed expert with no credentials to back it up then see number 3 - bulldogg has excellent credentials). In the Marine Corps that is what we call "sniping the instructor". One person thinks they know more than the instructor and they try to correct the instructor and make themselves look like an ass.
  3. Don't automatically assume someone is wrong because it disagress with your point of view or the knowledge you currently hold in your head. (I can take my own advice there)
bulldogg has been dealing with the various governments (like he has stated) for a number of years. I am sure he has more real experience than the online/book or real experience that you may have.

Hahaha... oh man, that's not even putting a term in political correctness (eg. homemaker = household engineer, janitor = custodian, barber = stylist, etc.). That's just changing the complete definition of the word... I can't believe I actually did a student exchange program to Beijing Univ... I was surrounded by students who were supposed to be the best, but were blinding themselves. I would hope that a school of their stature would house students that would develop thought (whether revolutionary or counter-revolutionary), but i guess I was wrong... Ahhh what a world we live in...

Why would it be "fashionable" of him? He lives over there and deals with them. If anything, I think he is highly qualified to speak about them and to know what goes on. Of what mental prison do you speak of? I don't get it...
 
Then explain the policy so we can understand. To criticise someone for being critical will hardly change anyone's opinion. I seriously would like to hear your take on censorship and about the detaining of the filmmaker at question in this thread.
 
Well, we may have a bit of a wait but I am interested. He seems to have tunnel vision (as many of us sometimes do) in regards to his view of how things are.

You say I am wrong and that China is not being understood correctly but you aren't able to explain how I am wrong or how China is being misunderstood.

How can you cry foul without the means to prove it is wrong? I can provide to you many sources some less biased than others that support the claims I make in my posts, however without a proxy server you won't be able to access most of them as they are censored in China.

Therein lies the crux of the matter: Censorship

If China did not practice Censorship (the careful screening of what is allowed ot be viewed and or heard) then I believe you would have a better idea where we are coming from yingying.
