Here it is...

Midway through his speech on urban and metropolitan policy in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building this afternoon, one of his two small glass prompters came crashing down, hitting the wood floor and crashing in many pieces. It made quite a ruckus.

"Oh, goodness," a startled President Obama said. "Sorry about that, guys."

He dident look very starteled to me. I know you hate him but he looks very calm and collected. Loosing the teleprompter while adressing a room can probably get most people very very uptight.
 
I think the President took it well and recovered even better.
He had only one screen to work with but delivered the speech just fine and didn't even lose eye contact after resuming his speech.
 
Rumors are that this was the promper that caused him to lie during a speech about how he met his wife. Suicide was the only honorable way out!:rolleyes:
 
Like him or not, give him a break. He's not done a bad job as President so far. Yeah the whole bailout thing could have been handled better but I think those are things that any government would have been tricked into. When it comes to money, these financial institutions can fool anyone.
My question is, when it is apparent that they fooled people or the government, why are they never reprimanded?

This why the right looks so ridiculous right now. They hate Obama but they have no idea as to why. A teleprompter breaks and they get all excited that this suppose to *prove* that Obama is somehow at fault.

Wasn't happy with the bailouts that Bush did, but Obama is making Bush look like a mizer. Obama in 4 years will have spent as much as been spent by everyone before, including Bush. If he gets all the spending he wants it'll double again in the 4 year peroid after that.
 
The running gag among conservatives is that the Teleprompter is the real President and Obama is the Puppet since he sucks as making speeches without one. Hell, he reads other folks speeches and doesn't even notice.

Rush and Glenn have called it the Teleprompter of the United States.... TOTUS....

You have no idea of predicted what Obama will do in the next 4 years. As a matter of fact Obama has said he will be cutting spending as of 2010. And OTG is correct Obama's spending so far is Peanuts compared to what the Previous Administration spent.
 
5.56, on the flip side you could argue that the Teleprompter was the real President during Bush's time in office because he couldn't get the speech right even with a teleprompter working properly.
Seriously, I know you don't like the guy but when you do something like this, it only makes your position weaker.
So the teleprompter broke and he did a decent job of delivering his speech... so what?
I don't expect every President to be able to pull off a "Park Jung-hee," who delivered his speech even while his wife had been shot next to him by an assassin. Felt that he had to convey strength to the country.

I agree, it didn't seem to bother him at all his tone never changed nor did his demeanor.

It would have to have been a Chinese teleprompter to make that big of a mess of the English language.

Nope. Sorry, not even close. Obama has spent record amounts ... by far eclipsing what George Bush spent in his 8 years. I heard one estimate that using one set of predictions, Obama will have spent more in one term than every other President before him combined.

Worse, the spending on one hair-brained project after another has not stemmed the loss of jobs in this country (unemployment heading over 10% nationally) and has saddled us with generations worth of debt. The taxes to pay this off will hold our economy back even more.

And he still wants to spend another trillion US$ on a government-run health care boondoggle.

Yeah, he's doing a GREAT job. Holy $#!+, what planet am I on??? :roll:

Currently the conservatives think the country is socialistic.
The socialists think the country is too capitalist.
I think that's a good indicator that the country is somewhere in the middle, and that middle ground is the best ground.

Oh, and 5.56... I don't know if you actually saw this happen, but the rest of the speech is just as phenomenal... Obama is considered one of the best speakers in the country... Now what's effed up is when you can't give the speech WITH the telepromters... Perhaps if they spelled the words phonetically we wouldn't be lowering our nukular weapons stashes...

I can't help but admire public speakers who, probably because they speak sincerely from the heart, speak at great length, flawlessly, eloquently, and with out a tele-promtor and maybe with or without a written speech in front of them but not in an obvious way.

Jack and Bobby Kennedy speeches had that quality and MLK jnr, and RR (who memorised speeches well), if fact many public figures pre-1970's did.

Obama seems to be a slave to the tele-promtor. I think that is a sign of superficiality although I am not prepared to write Obama off yet as a good US President. Lets see how his policies go. His enslavement to the tele-promptor automatically disqualifies him from ever being a great orator or public speaker which some seem to advertise him as being. I saw his auditorium speeches during the campaign without a tele-promtor on a You Tube clip and he was embarrassingly tongue-twisted and confused -worse than George Bush and that's saying something.
